“TianGongKaiWu-Exploitation of the Works of Nature” is known as an encyclopedia of early Chinese technology. TianGongKaiWu, first published in 1637, not only exhibited a number of achievements in craft and technology before the middle of the Ming Dynasty of China, but also was the world's first classic in technology on agriculture and handicraft. Amazingly, we could see traces of modern patent specifications from its formalities and illustrations. In memory of China's past scientific achievements, we quote TGKW from the initial consonants of TianGongKaiWu as our company’s English name to imply our ambition to confront the booming activities relating to intellectual property rights nowadays. Protection of Intellectual property rights is an important symbol of the modern industrial economy. Taking “patent rights” as an example, the implementation of patent law recognizes a country's emphasis on "innovation" and "invention"-the spirit of modern enterprises. Through exploitation of “patent rights”, it is possible to convert intangible assets into tangible wealth, and to effectuate the encouragement of contribution of people’s talents into innovation and invention. “Intellectual Property Management” is an interdisciplinary integrated management topic, which not only involves the conversion from “invention” into “patent”, the conversion from “patent” into “monopoly” or “royalties”, but also involves the collaboration of "research and development divisions", "intellectual property divisions", "legal advisors" and "financial advisors" in business entities. Whether familiar with the patent system or not, top managers of high-technology enterprises nowadays have to undergo severe tests on how to strike a balance between cost and quality in acquiring the "intellectual property" and on how to reduce the risk of minimizing sacrifice to an extend in a patent battlefield on the basis of theory and practice. TGKW management limited, established in 2010, is a professional intellectual property management consulting company. The core members of our company are all former senior intellectual property executives from Taiwan's high-tech industry, possessing abundant practical experience and solid professional knowledge. Recognizing that Asian enterprises often lag behind their European and American counterparts in terms of experience and tactical strategies in the patent litigation battlefield, we aim to use the 'TGKW' platform to share our years of hands-on experience in engaging with foreign companies.
